"You're too bloody sensitive!"~my NFOO

What gave them the right to judge my feelings in the 1st place?
Besides, if they knew I was sensitive and truly loved me,
why didn't they treat me differently?

"Other people don’t get to invalidate your truth. They can disagree with it. They can struggle to understand it. They can carry a truth that conflicts with your own — but they don’t have the authority to tell you what your truth should or shouldn’t be. You feel what you feel and you need what you need. Those things just are. It’s how you’re wired, and it’s okay. Other people can feel and need different things — and their truth is valid in its own right — but it doesn’t discount your own. Your truth comes without judgment. It can’t be wrong because it’s yours. Not theirs; not anyone else’s. It’s yours — and it’s your right to embrace and honor it."

  1. Yes I was smacked around and told "You're too sensitive". They got so angry when I cried and some of that was not when I was in trouble but in general. Any showing of real emotions was to be suppressed at all costs. It's a very disgusting thing about them. I own my feelings now and don't let others tell me how to feel.

  2. I wonder how many holes the person telling you that has punched in his walls while telling you, YOU are too sensitive?

    1. They are the ones who went nuts over every little nit. So they raged instead of cried, what difference is there?

  3. This is so classic for us. I still get told I'm too sensitive, but these days I'm rather nonchalant about it. I think its cause we all had this happen to us, and its an area where we get validation on it here in the ACON blogosphere. I just had it happen, and I was, "oh well, that's good isn't it?" I mean, what do they expect me to be, a stone? I enjoy my sensitiveness.

But sometimes its so overwhelming, that is why I live on the computer sometimes, it hurts. But I believe its crossing boundaries when people do that to us. I don't think people are as insensitive to anyone else, just those they see as a target. This is what makes me so angry sometimes, I want to hurl a spitball at them.

    1. I live on the computer too. I can't take the real world sometimes. It's too hard to hear and move and it comes at me so fast. I also have to force myself to be a stone to deal with people anymore.

  4. Don't know about others but, even though, the physical violence was seldom directed at me, I grew up with fear as my #1 emotion. With fear and anxiety like a permanent knot in our core, yeah we're too sensitive and unlikely to ever fully recover from that.

    1. I get sick of being afraid and worrying about all the BS. This whole society is run on fear and punishing us for every damn thing like even the lack of money.
